We were already very excited for the Rio Olympic Games, the main event of summer 2016 - but we got even more excited when Passion Pictures called us to help them design the next BBC Olympics advert. We had depicted Rio before in Nike’s ‘The Last Game’, celebrating the 2014 Football World Cup. This time, we departed from the favelas to explore the Brazilian jungle, where animals train in the shadow of our athletes... While Dan helped set up the project financially and Justin provided some sketches for the pitch, Rafael took on the art direction of the commercial. He had great fun creating colourful and joyful concept art, while Sammy designed some gorgeous matte paintings.

I worked on BBC Olympics from concept through to the final matte paintings. The project was very creative in terms of style, combining realism and a stylised tone.
